Frankenwald - Frankenwald Wandermarathon (May)

Participants travel from all over Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium every year just to be part of the FRANKENWALD WANDERMARATHON. Since its premiere in 2012, the event has attracted hundreds of hiking enthusiasts to our region every year. While in the first year there were still a manageable 250 participants who went to the start, the registration now has to be closed after a few hours at 600 participants.

Why is it so worthwhile to take part in the FRANKENWALD WANDERMARATHON? Because, unlike conventional hiking events, it offers more than just a great course and a few refreshment stations:

  • We offer upscale catering, from a breakfast buffet pre-start, lots of snacks, lunch and coffee and cake, to an evening buffet after arriving at the finish line (included in the participation fee).
  • In addition to the roadbook and the refreshment-wristband, the starter package includes many useful hiking utensils.
  • Shuttle points and shuttle stations along the route can be used if you overestimate your strength or lose track of the schedule.

Imaginative and with great attention to detail designed experience stations along the total 42 kilometers long - and quite demanding! - route make the FRANKENWALD WANDERMARATHON an entertaining day's walk for all participants, regardless of whether they are in their mid-twenties or early seventies.

Many beautiful corners of the Franconian Forest want to be discovered, which is why the route is worked out anew every year in a different part of the region.

And of course the legendary Frankenwald Weiber are THE highlight of the event every year.
