Rolling hills, lush forests, and a broad river plain are characteristic of the God’s Garden on the Upper Main River/Jura Region. The area is perfect for relaxing, hiking, bicycling, and boating trips. Another great place to recharge is the amazing Upper Main River Hot Spring Resort in Bad Staffelstein, Bavaria’s biggest and warmest saltwater spring. The storied Staffelberg Mountain is the perfect place for expansive views of many of the areas treasures. The Staffelberg, the Banz Monastery and the world-famous pilgrimage church across from Banz are considered Franconia’s Trifecta.
Basket-making is one of those ancient traditions with deep roots in the Upper Main River/Jura Region. The town of Lichtenfels celebrates its basket-making heritage with Basket Market. In Michelau i.OFr., the German Basket Making Museum offers information and education about this ancient craft.
